# Strikr

> Strikr (spelled S-T-R-I-K-R; on the App Store as "Strikr: Soccer Shot Tracker", and "Strikr: Football Shot Tracker" in the UK) is an iPhone app that measures a soccer kick from video: how fast the ball left the foot, how fast it was spinning, which foot struck it, and the ball's flight, traced over the replay. It charts the numbers week by week, left foot against right. Made by Kaniku Labs LLC.

## What it measures

- Speed: how fast the ball left the foot, in km/h or mph, worked out from the ball itself. A size-5 ball is 22 cm across, so its size in each frame gives the distance and the clip's timestamps give the time. No extra equipment and no sensor in the ball.
- Spin: in rpm, from a slow-motion clip of a ball with clear markings, filmed close and in daylight. A plain, small or blurred ball can't be read, and Strikr says so.
- Flight: the ball's path traced over the replay, with its peak height and distance.
- Which foot: read from the kicker's feet at the strike.
- Where it went: in the goal, wide, over or off the woodwork, when Strikr can tell.
- Progress: personal records, form (last 10 kicks against the 10 before), consistency, speed week by week, left foot against right, and a shot map.
- A share clip of the kick with its trace, speed and spin.

## How to use it

- Film a kick in Strikr's camera, or import up to three clips from Photos.
- Best from a still ball (set pieces, penalty kicks, shooting drills), with the phone steady and level, the whole flight in frame and the ball big in the frame.
- Everything is analyzed on the iPhone. Videos never leave the phone. No account.
